CIVIL RECORDS OF BIRTH / MARRIAGE / DIVORCE / DEATH  (IN TAIWAN)

If you are out of Taiwan and you need a certified copy of the above-mentioned documents, which were issued in Taiwan:

A.

You can send one of your relative with his/her own Identification card to apply for the certificate at the district Household Registry. Charge:

B.

Or you can appoint one of your friends to apply for the certificate for you. In that case, you need to apply a letter of Attorney at the ROC embassy or consulate or the Taipei Representative Office.

The appointed representative will apply for the certificates at the district Household Registry. Thereafter the documents need to be translated to English language and verified by the local court/a notary then to be legalized by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (See the Legalization of Documents) Because the translator must apply the verification in person at the court, we suggest that you can assign one translation agent to handle all the necessary procedure.

REGISTRATION OF BIRTH / OF MARRIAGE / OF DEATH ABROAD ( FOR DUTCH CITIZENS ONLY)

Why register?

Registration saves you time and money in furture.

If the certificate is admisistered at the registry, at all times you can request official copies of the certificate. International copies come in 5 different langes (Dutch, Englilsh, French, German, Spanish).

The validity of (certified copies) of certificates generally is 3 to 6 months. For this reason official institutions always ask for recently issued opies of the certificate concerned.
